Our Advisory Board, consisting of both children and adults, meets twice a year to guide the Platform’s development and ongoing improvement, and review and approve our Work Plan.
Who is on the Board?
The Advisory Board consists of:
- 10 children from member organisations, and
- 15 adults from the European Commission, European Parliament, EU Fundamental Rights Agency, Council of Europe, Children’s Rights Action Group and UNICEF.
What does the Board do?
- Shares ideas and experiences to help shape activities like consultations with children, the creation of child-friendly documents and digital communications.
- Reviews and approves important documents like the Platform’s Work Plan and Safeguarding Framework.
- Helps the Platform connect with children and organisations at the local, national, and EU levels, making sure that more children can get involved.
How does the Board work?
The Board meets twice a year, usually in Brussels or another EU location, but sometimes online. Each Board meeting is co-chaired by an adult from the Commission and a child Board member.
Board members receive the documents that will be discussed in advance of the meeting. For child members, there is an extra day before the official meeting to discuss the agenda and documents, and help them feel confident about sharing their opinions.
Working principles:
- Inclusive and meaningful discussions, with equal opportunities for all members to express opinions.
- Decisions require unanimous agreement, with final approval from Commission representatives.
- Accountability and responsiveness with clear presentation of objectives and feedback.
