Some governments, local councils or non-profit organisations have advisory groups to help them get guidance and information on important subjects.
What is it?
Advisory groups can be permanent, like a child advisory group or board for a national government that gives opinions on different subjects that concern children.
An advisory group could also be temporary, brought together specially to talk about one subject when a new law is being made or there is short-term work to make a report.
Advisory groups can be made up of only children, or together with adults.
Here's an example
Our Advisory Board
Within the EU Children's Platform we have an Advisory Board made up of 10 of our child members and 10 adults from the EU and civil society.
This advisory group plays a very important role, and helps decide how the Platform works, what subjects we will work on and how to improve.
