Member alert: Want to join the Communication Co-creation Team?

Five teenage co-creation team members with the adult facilitator
Body

We have a team of young members aged 14-17 who help us scope, review and test our communications. This is to make sure that words, formats and channels are relevant and adapted for our young audiences.

Would children from your organisation be interested in joining? Yes? Then let us know by email and we'll contact you to discuss it further.

How does the team work?

  • We have monthly online meetings between October-July (6-8 meetings)
  • Each meeting lasts for one hour
  • Until now, we have been meeting at 15:00 during the week (we adapt to the children's availability)
  • If needed, we can provide letters to schools, so that team members can get an hour of time out of their school day to attend
  • The Platform prepares all the materials and facilitates the meetings
  • Each organisation joins the team for two years, but the children who participate can change over that timeframe

We are looking for two new member organisations (with three children from each one)

What does the team do?

  • Reviews and tests key communication formats and materials
  • Helps to scope new formats and materials
  • Provides insights into how children and teens expect communications to work to help us focus on children's preferences and needs

See the team's webpage for more on what they do

Who can join?

  • Teens from member organisations aged14-17
  • Preferably those with an interest in digital communications
  • Kids who can understand, and are comfortable to speak in English (good enough that they don't need a translator)
  • Have an adult organisation member who will join each meeting (in respect of safeguarding, language support if required) and for coordination purposes
  • Have consent forms signed by each child's parent/guardian

What are the benefits?

  • Children can influence how Platform communications are created and delivered
  • Children can see and learn how digital communications work in a professional setting
  • Each child receives a formal certificate from the Commission at the end of each their participation
  • Team members are invited to participate in the yearly big Platform in-person meeting
  • Gives visibility to the organisations that participate, through the website
