On 20–21 June 2025, 80 children aged 10–17 met in Brussels for our second General Assembly. We talked about intergenerational fairness, and some of the big issues that matter to us. We shared ideas and created a powerful Call to Action for the EU and national decision-makers.
Under the theme “Building Fair Societies – Our Voices, Our Future”, the Assembly was co-designed and co-facilitated by children, creating a truly child-friendly and empowering environment.
A huge thank you to all the children and young people who helped lead and shape the meeting: Gabrielius, Mirabela, Naya, Aurora, Andon, Jan, James, Iggy, Maria, Alexandra, Ayat, Charlie, Erica, Kaloyan and Yoana!

I like this event because young people get to express their opinions, exchange different information and interact together to make Europe better for young people.
Day 1 – Getting started & exploring big topics
We kicked off with a warm welcome from Commissioner Glenn Micallef, Deputy Director-General Irena Moozová, and Aurora, Gabrielius and Mirabela from our Children’s Panel.
Then we had a lively session on fairness between generations on why it’s important to include people of all ages in the decisions that will help people today and in the future.
After that, we split into groups to work on the main topics together with adults from the European Commission and civil society organisations.
The Children’s Panel also led a fun games session to help us learn and work as a team. We finished the day with a bus tour and dinner in the city.

Four themes for discussion
These were chosen by children themselves as part of the 2025–2026 Work Plan:
- Well-being in schools: How to make schools kinder, safer and more supportive.
- Online safety: How to stop cyberbullying and protect children online.
- Working together against hate: How to spread kindness and respect.
- Climate action: How to protect nature and give a voice to all living things.

While we were busy in our workshops, the adults joined a “Myth‑Busting” session about children’s participation with Professor Laura Lundy. They explored common myths and learned better ways to support children’s rights and listen to children’s ideas.

Day 2 – From workshops to actions
We worked on a Code of Kindness and talked about protecting the planet and saving bees and other pollinators.
Children presented projects from 17 member organisations across 11 EU countries. These showed how children as young as 10 are helping other children and bringing about change in their communities. Very inspiring! More information about the projects (in English)
Then came the Festival of Fairness, where we moved in groups between different workstations to pick the most important actions to share with EU decision-makers in our Call to Action.

From ideas to action
At the end of the meeting, a group of children, supported by adults, put together our Call to Action and prepared to present it. Two days later, we delivered the Call at the 15th European Forum on the Rights of the Child (some sessions were livestreamed!).
Our Call to Action is now in the hands of the adults, and we are looking forward to hearing what the EU and member countries will be doing to respond to our proposals.
You will be able to follow the progress on the website.
