A very important part of our work is helping children to develop deeper knowledge on the policy subjects of interest to them. Also to exchange with children and adults from other countries and backgrounds on common issues and new ideas for action.
This is done through online or in-person meetings, discussions and workshops. Between children and young people, known as peer visits, or together with adults known as study visits.
Our young members also participate in other EU events: as conference members, presenters or facilitators. They share their knowledge and opinions, develop new skills and build EU-wide networks.
The knowledge from these visits can be used by all children and teenagers – to start conversations in their communities or to get inspiration for new ideas and actions.
Around 20 children and young people from 10 EU countries met in Berlin for two days to share, learn, and put together recommendations on:
- How children can feel safe, supported, respected and listened to regarding mental health issues
- How adults, schools, families and services can better support children’s well-being
A group of around 30 motivated children and adults from 11 EU countries came together in Ireland to share, learn and get ideas on:
- How Ireland involves children in decision-making at local and national level
- How child participation is working and could advance in their own countries
