EU Children's Participation Platform

Advisory Board

The Advisory Board is a team of children and adults who help guide what the Platform does. They make sure children’s ideas are part of important decisions about the Platform.

Who is on the Board?

What does the Board do?

  • Connects children’s voices to decision-makers: Shares what children think and feel with adults who make decisions. This helps adults hear what children think and make better choices that include their ideas
  • Shapes the work of the Platform: Gives advice on activities, events, and consultations, to make sure they matter to children
  • Reviews and approves key documents: Agrees on important documents like the Platform’s Work Plan
  • Co-creates child-friendly resources: Helps make information clear and easy to understand for all children

How does the Board work?

  • Meetings: Held twice a year, usually in person but sometimes online. A child and an adult lead the meetings together
  • Preparation: Child members meet the day before to get ready and spend time together
  • Discussions: Led by experts in child participation, so that every member, child or adult, gets a chance to speak and be listened to
  • Decision-making: Everyone agrees before a decision is made. If not, the co-chairs suggest what to do next. Final approvals come from the European Commission
