Hi, my name is Faith and l am 17 years old from Ballina Co. Mayo. On 11 March, I attended the Youth Policy Dialogue with Commissioner Michael McGrath.
There were 30 young people from across the EU at the event. We got to speak on a few topics to do with youth voice and express our concerns and opinions to the Commissioner as he listened to us.
I got to talk about how the voice of young people is so important for the future and about the education that needs to be taught around voting and politics.
I think that majority of the young people across the EU don't understand how empowering and important their voice is to decisions that are made in the government. And to spread the information to as many young people as possible because every voice is important and counts, and so that all views are noticed and heard.
Education about roles of the government and the voting system is so important as it goes towards future generations. So many young people across the EU don't understand how to vote and who and what they are voting for.
I feel that all of the points and concerns were taken into account by the Commissioner and he had answered all of our questions.
It was an amazing day and I feel so grateful that l was able to attend this event and meet so many lovely people around the EU, and the Commissioner who was so nice and welcoming to everyone.
I hope this day has made an impact on future decisions and will hopefully make an impact on young people!
