Europe Day in Brussels!

Stand showing the EU Children's Participation Platform at Europe Day
Body

Every year on 9 May we celebrate the European Union and how great it is to be part of it. This year, the Platform participated and we had the chance to speak about children's rights and share the Democracy Toolkit with kids, parents and teachers

More than 18,000 people visited the EU's Berlaymont building on Saturday 9 May to learn more about the EU. There were lots of child visitors and many activities just for them!

On our stand, we gave away goodies like stickers and tote bags, had some drawing sessions, had a democracy crossword activity and lots of interesting conversations about children's rights and our democracy toolkit.

We also had a visit from Executive Vice-President Teresa Ribero who asked about the work we are doing and took one of our bags to carry all the goodies she was collecting. It was a busy and fun day!

In addition to music, dance and food, some of the other activities for kids that we saw:

  • Interactive game about gender stereotypes
  • An origami game about pollinators (bees!)
  • Whether voting should be open for 16-year-olds

Keep your eyes and ears open for Europe Day 2027 - with lots of activities across all EU countries, including special events in Brussels.
