Have your say on the Digital Fairness Act

A young person holds up a colourful speech bubble sign that reads “My Voice, Our Europe” in front of a white background. The focus is on the sign, which promotes youth participation in Europe.
Body

The European Union wants children and teenagers to have safe and positive experiences when using apps, websites, games and social media, so it is creating a new law called the Digital Fairness Act. To help shape this law, the EU wants to hear from children and teenagers aged 12 to 17 about their experiences as consumers, including how apps and websites treat them when they choose, use or pay for things online. Your views will help make the digital world fairer for everyone your age.

The survey closes on 26 April 2026.

What is this survey about?

Apps, games and websites can be fun, helpful and full of cool features. But they can also:

  • Try to keep you online longer than you planned
  • Make spending money too easy or confusing
  • Make choices that feel unfair or unclear

The survey wants to hear about your experiences as a consumer. It asks what feels fair and what you would like companies to do better.

Your answers will help shape the Digital Fairness Act, which aims to make online choices clearer and fairer for everyone.

Who can take part?

  • Children and teenagers aged between 12-17
  • Living in an EU Member State, or EU citizens living abroad

Your everyday experience as a consumer matters. The EU wants to hear directly from you.

How the survey works

  • The survey will take about 15 minutes
  • You can complete it in your national language
  • You can do it on your own or ask a trusted adult to help you (like a parent, carer or teacher)
  • You can skip questions and only answer the ones you want to
  • If you want to finish the survey later, make sure to save your progress. Otherwise, you’ll have to start again from the beginning

What will happen to your answers?

  • Your name and personal details are not collected, so no one will know which answers came from you
  • Your answers will be used to write a report for the European Commission
  • This report will help the EU shape the Digital Fairness Act and make the internet fairer for everyone
  • A child-friendly summary will be published on the Platform’s website.
