On 23-24 June, the 15th European Forum on the Rights of the Child took place in Brussels. On 23 June in the morning sessions, children from our Platform presented a Call to Action.
The morning sessions on both days were live streamed, along with the closing session on day two.
Under the theme of “Championing Children’s Rights: Building Fair and Resilient Societies for the EU’s Present and Future”, the Forum presented how the EU priorities on children’s rights are making a stronger and resilient EU society, across generations, now and for future generations.
Participants, including children and young people, representing national and local authorities, civil society, international organisations, European Parliament and other EU institutions, children’s ombudspersons, academia and practitioners, came together to discuss the EU Strategy on the rights of the child.
EU Children’s Participation Platform at the Forum
A group of child members of the Platform shared their Call to Action in the morning session on 23 June. They were also involved in preparing and leading the session – setting their ambitions for the Forum and EU policies.
The Call to Action was put together by a larger group of 80 children who were present at our General Assembly which took place on June 20-21.
- The Call to Action was discussed in a group, which included European Commissioner Glenn Micallef, MEP Veronika Cifrová Ostrihonová.
- In a second session, the children took part in a panel discussion on climate change and intergenerational fairness, looking at a sustainable approach to children’s rights.
