The EU Children’s Participation Platform has launched its first Work Plan!
In June 2023, we came together at the first General Assembly co-created and co-chaired with European children and teenagers. Children and adults discussed the work of the Platform and what topics children would like to be covered.
Our 2023-2024 Work Plan
The Platform Secretariat worked with the Children's Panel and the European Commission to make what is called our Work Plan.
During the October 2023 Advisory Board meeting, the Board members (a mix of children and adults) reviewed the plan and approved it.
The 2023-2024 Work Plan sets out four topic areas we are working on together with children until October 2024:
Feeling safe
- Children have shared what makes them feel safe
- The European Commission will consider the opinions of children while writing recommendations
- These recommendations will advise governments in the EU how to better protect children
Democracy and voting
- Discussions with children will be shared with EU Member States. This will provide the EU with more insights on what young people think about democracy
- Children will learn how to access accurate information online and what democracy means in practice
Website co-creation
- Children help with the Platform's online communication and information, and to make a child-friendly website
- What we learn will be shared to help Platform members with their communication activities
Past, present, future
- The European Commission will get insights on how the Platform has worked, what to keep, what to change
- Children will give and receive feedback on all the consultations they participated in
- Children will give their input for the next Work Plan (2025-2026)
