Organisations and stakeholders are invited to share their insights and contribute to the development of the protection of minors guidelines (pursuant to Article 28) of the Digital Services Act (DSA).
The consultation closes on 10 June, 2025.
The draft guidelines are a result of extensive research, and consultations and workshops with various stakeholders, including children via Better Internet for Kids (BIK+).
Reviewing the draft guidelines
Article 28 says that online platforms that can be used by children need to make sure their services offer a high level of privacy, safety and security to young users.
The draft guidelines for platforms cover very important issues that will impact children directly, like:
- Age assurance measures to reduce the risks of children being exposed to age-inappropriate content
- Children’s accounts made private by default, to reduce the risk of unwanted contact by strangers
- Allowing children to block and mute any user, and not be added to groups without their consent
As the guidelines document is long with dense technical descriptions, and the feedback is detailed, children's input would ideally be facilitated and submitted by an adult/organisation.
